Wolff Von Roos (the Musical Caped Crusader) is Performing Organist at Pipe Organs of Boardwalk Hall Atlantic City, Choirmaster at Grace Church Choir School and Director of Music & Organist at Grace Church in Newark
Past: Broadway UMC and First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church
Wolff Von Roos is renown as a jazz organist. He is most known for his interesting musicality in improvisation in which he has studied from the music of Olivier Messiaen, Pierre Cochereau, Jean Guillou, and others. He uses that skill often to accompany black & white silent movie films like Nosferatu, Phantom of the Opera, and more. In addition to organ, Wolff also is a Jazz guitarist, and enjoys writing tunes with his trio, Von Roos & The Wolffpack.
He writes about his plans for the masterclass: “I probably won't structure it around jazz improvisation, but organ improvisation in general. Example: French Romantic/Symphonic (which is my main specialty in the classical world). That combined with a little bit of introduction to jazz theory can create new harmonies for one to explore for both service playing and in concert.”
More details of how to participate in and audit the master class to follow.
