Jörg Reddin organ concert
The concert is part of the music series accompanying the "Icons in Transformation" art exhibition at All Saints'.
All Saints' Episcopal Church houses two instruments by the
renowned Dutch firm, Flentrop Organbuilders of Zaandam, The
Netherlands: a one-manual positif (called "Junior") to accompany
smaller works and the two-manual main organ.
Built in 1969 and serviced in 2003 to improve its tone (voicing), the
main organ features mechanical "tracker" action. Unlike modern
electrical or pneumatic systems, there is a direct mechanical
connection between the key and the pipe valve. This lets the
organist feel the pallet opening to let the wind into the pipe, giving
the instrument a more direct, tactile responsiveness.
The main organ is known for its Baroque sound, which particularly
suits the music of composers from Dietrich Buxtehude and Johann
Sebastian Bach through the early Romantic period.
Free admission, suggested donation $10
