Alison Ludecke Masterclass
Alison Ludecke gave a brilliant and interesting masterclass focusing on Baroque organ playing style to six musicians willing to have their playing criticized in public! The students were all very well prepared, and it was fascinating to watch how their technique and interpretation flourished under Alison’s gentle but insightful tutelage.
The performers and the pieces they offered were
Wolfgang Roethig: Praeludium in D minor - Buxtehude BuxWV 140
Rebecca Kamas: Prelude in G Major from Eight Little Preludes and Fugues - J. S. Bach
Yining (Evelyn) Hong: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme BWV 645 - J. S. Bach
Ethan Williams: Herlizch lieb hab ich dich - Johann Ludwig Krebs KrebsWV 527
Clara Chan: Prelude, Fuga and Ciacona in C - Buxtehude BuxWV 137
Water Mitby: Toccata and Fugue in D minor, “Dorian" BWV 538 - J. S. Bach
As a postlude, Walter Mitby played Final, from 3rd Symphony - Vierne
Many thanks to all the students who took part, and to Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos for graciously hosting the event.
